I have lived experience of mental distress and support my daughter who is on the autistic spectrum. I became a carer rep after my daughter suffered injustice from a mental health team
I am involved in activities, including Care and Treatment Planning training for mental health professionals and being on a recovery steering committee. Like many others I was supported by West Wales Action for Mental Health and felt compelled to work with others to campaign for more humane mental health services and greater understanding of neurodiversity and mental health. I am involved in activities including Care and Treatment training for mental health professionals and being on a recovery steering committee.
I also run a peer music project with WWAMH ‘ Adventures in Sound’. I have been closely involved in the ‘Transforming Mental Health’ project. I have been a rep for six years and am passionate about coproduction, patient leadership, ending all coercive practice and promoting grass roots peer support of all kinds.
