The Forum is made up of individuals from across Wales who either have direct lived experience of mental health and mental health services, or who provide care and support for someone with mental health needs.
Representatives (Reps) of the Forum are made up of a minimum of four Members from each of the seven Health Board Areas in Wales and a minimum of 10 Independent Reps who do not represent a Health Board:
- The four Members (minimum) from the seven Health Boards across Wales are appointed via the Local Partnership Board of the Health Board. This includes two carers and two people with lived experience.
- The 10 Independent Members (minimum) are recruited nationally to ensure that the Forum reflects the diversity of the people of Wales and the range of their experiences.
Two Forum Members and two Deputies also sit on the National Mental Health Partnership Board (NPB) in Wales. The NPB oversees the delivery and implementation of Welsh Government’s Together for Mental Health – A Strategy for Mental Health and Wellbeing in Wales, and its Delivery Plan.
